Fall 2011

March 6th, 2011

RARE BIRD – Eurythmy: design, harmony and rhythm. VIONNET for Fall 2011 is composed on a precise, almost mathematical, set of rules. Like music; a genuine scientific synthesis of thrilling contrasts.

Rodolfo Paglialunga, Creative Director of VIONNET, transforms apparently incompatible, obscure elements: stylized Texan folksiness has clerical echoes; 40’s glamour and wild hippy sensuality make for a hybrid look deliberately spanning styles, space and time with an ultra-contemporary vision of the future.

A well‑dosed, skilled fusion of style and technique results in sophisticatedly casual spontaneity and nonchalance. Each piece is a surprise…not only what it seems at first glance, but transforming when worn and in movement. One evening dress, covered in reversible, iridescent, green / gold and blue / silver sequins, becomes a sort of shimmering plumage. Again, this time as a feather motif print in shamrock green, sun orange, pansy purple or carnation pink colour combinations turns a bomber jacket into a precious collectible.

Drawstrings and belts modify volumes at will. Asymmetrical sleeves and fur trimmings exaggerate dramatic proportions. Long, flared dresses in bronze‑coloured lamé georgette. Flowing, snow white draping appears on austere black geometric cocktail dresses. A coat becomes a conceptual patchwork of fur in various lengths and textures: fox, marmot and short, curly, long and smooth sheepskin. Asymmetric wool fringe embellishes capes and coats. A blend of traditional and technological fabrics cover a wide range of stretch flannel, cool wool, silk and cashmere, narrow gauge corduroy, wool piqué and double satin.

Drawstrings, fur and fringe also appear in accessories: handbags and footwear reveal an eccentric blend of refined proportions, colours, and materials. Jewellery and belts eclectically combine Navajo themes and Deco references.

VIONNET for Fall 2011 is a rare bird.
